2009 Holiday Packing Party

Several years ago, at our first holiday packing party, it only took us a couple of hours to pack up our holiday care packages.  This year, it took us six weeks to pack holiday cheer to troops all over the world!

On Saturday, November 7, we hosted our first packing party.  We packed our boxes for our Chaplains and Points of Contacts (POC’s) at remote locations.  It takes anywhere from 6-8 weeks for the boxes to reach the remote locations, so we had to get those boxes out first.

On Saturday, November 14, we had our second packing party.  We packed boxes for the four Combat Support Hospitals we support.  Every one of our injured Heroes, at these locations, will be getting a Christmas stocking or goodie bag delivered to them on Christmas Eve.

Saturday, November 21, was our BIG packing party.  We were at three separate locations packing for our troops.

The first location was at our Troop Support Center where the mothers were packing special Christmas stockings for our female troops.

The second location was in a room where we were stuffing Christmas stockings for our care packages.

The third location was in a room where we were packing and taping our care packages.  The holiday music was playing in this room, so lots of us were singing carols as we were packing our boxes.

On November 28, we met to pack up the special requests that we had received.  Christmas trees, thermal underwear, holiday music CD’s, books, etc. were mailed this week.

On December 5, we met to build our special coffee care packages.  Our troops LOVE our coffee care packages!

And, last but not least, we met on December 12 to pack up goodie bags for four new POC’s.

When all was said and done, we stuffed and packed:

.

ONE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND THIRTY TWO (1,332) stockings!!!!!!!!

ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED EIGHTY EIGHT (1,888) goodie bags!!!!!

.

FINAL TOTAL:  THREE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY Heroes received holiday cheer from us!!!!!

3,220 Heroes!!!!

HO HO HO and thank you to everyone that helped us make this the biggest and best holiday packing party we have ever had!
