NOVEMBER 2008 HOLIDAY PACKING PARTY
On November 29, 2008,
we held our 2008 Holiday Packing Party for the troops that were stationed overseas during the holidays.
A few minutes before we began our packing
party the lights went out and we were, literally, standing in the dark! We were told that there was a power
outage in Kettering and they did not know how long the lights would be off; so, we had to use flashlights to illuminate the
area.
We
packed in the dark for about 2 hours and then shortly after the power came back on we had to evacuate the building because
the fire alarms went off.
But, power outages and smoke in the building didn’t stop us! By the end of the day, we had
stuffed 2,500 stockings with 3,000 pounds of candy and had packed enough boxes and stockings to support thousands of troops
all over the world!
A special THANK YOU goes out to the students at Kettering Fairmont High School who raised the money to ship our holiday
boxes.
And,
a special THANK YOU goes out to our sponsors and members of our community who made this our biggest and best packing party
we have ever had!
