THANK YOU FROM OUR HEROES

We have received hundreds of thank you cards, letters and e-mails from our Heroes that we support.  Below are some of the thank you notes that we would like to share with you:

IT is VETERAN'S DAY and I wanted to thank you. Today is your day because of the amazing amount of sacrifice that you have given for the Armed forces. You are the Veterans that we need to honor today. Thank you for your service From all the Soldiers, US Contractors and one Sailor here on JSS Hieder”

From 3 Heroes in Afghanistan: Today our section received care packages ………...  THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!  We really appreciate it!  It certainly is a morale booster as everyone enjoys not only receiving the packages but just knowing that someone back home cares so much to organize sending us comforts from home.”

From a Hero in Afghanistan: “I would like to start off by saying Thank You”…” for the care packages that you have sent to me and my soldiers.  We were advised….that …were willing to send care packages….this was great news since some of my soldiers hadn’t received anything from home.  I cannot express the delight of the soldiers to receive a package …..”

From a Hero in Iraq: “I am writing this letter to thank you for everything you do for us over here.  It really means a lot to receive the care packages you have sent to us.  Every time I walk into our little USO, I get a smile when I see all the stuff people send just because they care.  There are no words to express how happy and grateful we are that people like you are back there supporting us in more ways than one.  It really boosts the morale of the guys to have these boxes of goodies.”

From an Air Force Major:  “Thank you for another great goody box I received today.  Folks in the office are jealous because of the boxes you are sending from the Blue Star Mothers group.  I enjoyed the hot cider.  I had never had the cider before, but I tried some last night before hitting the sack.  It was the first night I’ve slept through since my arrival.  Thanks again for all the effort you and your fellow mothers go through to support us troops.  You are the counter-balance to all the negative we see from the news folks on TV.”

From an Army Specialist:  “When we received the packages, we were all amazed at how BIG and how many boxes we had received!  Personally, in my head, I was thinking … WOW!  WOW!  I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and neither could my friends!  My friends and I all want to thank you and they all wanted me to tell you that we ALL appreciate everything that you guys are doing for us.  I sincerely mean that!  I will send you a picture of us as soon as I can find my camera.”

From a SGT in Kuwait:  “I received two packages from your group yesterday.  A whole box of coffee and a care package with lots of goodies!  Thank you so much!  The guys were happy with the coffee and I took some up to the General’s office (I thought that would be a nice treat for him!).  I shared my bubble tape bubble gum with one of the guys and I think he was in heaven to have such a back-in-the-day treat.  THANK YOU AGAIN!”

From an Army Major:  “I received a care package today from your organization.  It was a huge surprise!  I have never heard of this organization, so I went online to read about you and it’s amazing.  I truly appreciate the gifts and have already given the contents of the box to our First Sergeant to distribute to our troops.  It is great to know that there are Americans, other than our families, looking out for our troops around the world.  A heart felt THANK YOU!”

From a PFC:  “I got your box!  I got your box!  I got your box!  I got your box!  As soon as I saw your box sitting on my bunk, I picked it up and ran to the Communications Center to send you an e-mail to tell you that I GOT YOUR BOX!  THANK YOU very, very, very much!”

p.s.  I haven’t opened your box yet.

NOTE:  I told the members that if he was THAT excited about getting a box, imagine how excited he’ll get when he actually OPENS the box!

From an Army Major:  “Thank you so much for the fabulous box of Starbucks coffee.  There are several guys on my team who are now very happy!  As long as the Army has been living on coffee, you would think it would have figured out how to make a better cup of the stuff by now.  Thanks to all of you Blue Star Mothers.”

From a Soldier at a very remote location:  “We got the boxes you sent – the Hallmark cards … the STARBUCKS coffee … the candy … everything!  We only get mail delivered every two weeks, so when your boxes come, it’s like Christmas!  Everyone here recognizes the Blue Star Mothers boxes.  Your group is soooo generous and it really picks our morale up knowing that you guys are thinking of us.”

From a SSGT:  “WOW!  What can I say.  I cannot say enough good things about all of the support and prayers you have sent my way.  Your mission to make sure that every service member feels appreciated, is as important as any mission I have ever executed.  Thank You.”

From a Marine Captain:  “Ladies, I can’t thank you enough for the outpouring of support we have received from the families of Dayton.  We received several large boxes of books, girl scout cookies, soap, drink mixes and snacks.  Your generosity is overwhelming and I can tell you that your care packages have a very positive impact on the morale of the Marines here in Iraq.  It might sound funny, but some Jalapeno’ Pringles can be the highlight of a Marine’s day!”

From a SSGT:  “I would like to SALUTE you for all of your hard work and support that you have shown to me, as well as others.  Your enthusiasm has made life a little easier for Soldiers like myself to cope with life over here.”

From a SGM:  “I want to thank you and all the many hands and warm hearts that put these gifts of love in a box that you sent thousands of miles across the waters.  I want you to know all of the Soldiers really enjoyed all of the gifts of love that you sent.  Thank you for having a warm heart and that is a heart of love.”

From a Soldier:  “Yesterday was a great day.  WHY?  Because of you!  You see, I got this BOX in the mail.  It was such a surprise.  I was smiling.  I had to call my wife and share the good news with her.  Then, when I opened it, not only was it for me but it was for all the Soldiers here.  You can believe that I shared with everyone just to see the smile on their faces.  It was a good feeling.  Thank you very much.  Sometimes we don’t know who God will use to put a smile on your face … well, ladies … you did it for me!”

From a PSSN in the Navy:  “Thank you for your care package.  I had been outside all day in the freezing rain.  After I took my shower, I climbed into the sweat pants you sent me in your care package.  They were sooooo warm.  I slept well.  Thank you.”

.

From a Sergeant:  “I am writing to you today on behalf of my Soldiers to thank you for your many kind acts.  I shared your first letter with my Command Section.  Shortly after that, I received a care package from you which I shared with our Staff.  Today, I was presently surprised to find a card in my box wishing me a “Happy 4th of July”!!!!!!!  This really brought joy to my heart.”

.

From a SSGT and her Soldiers:  “You all continue to show your love and support for us.  Thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts!  We love you!!!!!”

From a Soldier:  “Thank you so much for the generous gifts.  Your kind thoughts and warm regards really make me feel loved and appreciated.”

From a Sergeant:  “Thank you so much for the care package!  I was so excited that I was like a little kid in a candy store.”

From a Commander:  “I would like to thank you for your thoughtfulness and the wonderful gifts you are sending our way.  Your support is instrumental to the morale of the Soldiers and Sailors here that are fighting the global war on terror.  Your kind gestures are carried in our hearts each and every day as we serve our proud nation.”

From a SSG:  “Your box arrived and thank you sooooooooo much.  The troops are enjoying the STARBUCKS coffee, but grinding it is a new toy for most of them.  However, only a few are allowed to touch the grinder.  The Oreo cookies were the first to go.  They brought milk from the chow hall to their living areas to eat the Oreo cookies.  Thank you to all of you that volunteer to help us in Iraq.  God bless you all!”

From a 1SG in Afghanistan:  “I cannot speak enough words of gratitude to express what your care packages mean to us.  The Blue Star Mothers have answered an unspoken call of support that only a mother could hear.  Your organization has exhibited our ARMY Values of selfless service and devotion to duty.  Please pass this along to all of the other Moms.  THANK YOU!!!”
.
From a Chaplain in Kuwait:  “So many times we have come to you with our needs and each time you have answered our call without a second thought.  You are the backbone to our mission, keeping strength high.  Because of your efforts, our witness to the world remains true.”
.
From a Female Soldier:  “You guys are absolutely incredible!  I am speechless and honestly do not know what to say!!!  I love my “girlie” box!”
.
From a Marine:  “I appreciate the care package you sent me.  I have been in Iraq for 2 months now.  It’s starting to get brutally hot here.  But, that doesn’t bother me though, because I know that I have all of you being a mother to me and that raises my spirits.”

.

From a Soldier at a very remote location:  “Tell the Blue Star Mothers that they are THE MOST AWESOME PEOPLE ALIVE!!  Their boxes fell on us like gifts out of heaven.  You should see 50 guys – exhausted, filthy, discouraged and hungry – you should see them RUN to the tent that has their boxes.  They are practically jumping up and down with anxiety.  They dive into them like they are filled with gold bricks and run giggling like girls to a shady spot to sit and eat their armfuls of goodies!!  And, the whole time they are going ‘mmm-mmm-mmm’ like it is the best food in the world!  I wish you could see this.  Tell them that they are all angels.  Tell them that their boxes are the one bright spot in a grim world.  Be sure and tell them!  Oh … and … keep them coming!”

From a Sgt in Afghanistan: “…It’s people like you that help soldiers stay positive….thanks again for thing of us.”

From a unit in Afghanistan: “From the bottom of all our hearts we say Thank You!”

From a SPC in Afghanistan: ”Thank you so much for everything you have done for me and my friends.  You have truly made a difference for us.”

From a SPC in Afghanistan: To “all the amazing Blue Star Mothers, Thank you very much for sending us the package.  I cannot express the gratitude that myself and others feel because of your selflessness, amazing level of care and the love I truly do feel when I read your letters.  You are truly a hero to us for bringing light to a place so dark for us….Thank you again for helping us out and offering what you have.  If you all every need anything please don’t hesitate to ask.”

From a Chaplain in Iraq: A response to questions about how Christmas stocking to send:  “We look forward to Christmas from you and your ‘workers of joy’.”

From one of our POCs who supports some remote folks: “You, like many other proud American, make this separation from our Families and friends easier.  Thank you again for your amazing spirit and generosity!”
