RE: CPL Derek C. Dixon 5 July 2007

Dear Beverly,

I want to thank the Blue Star Mothers for their continued support during this trying time in America today. You and the entire organization of the Blue Star Mothers of America are the glue that holds our men and women of the Armed Forces together.  Knowing your mother is behind you 100% is a powerful thing.

You’re selfless acts have not gone unnoticed by the Families you are there to support or the Active Duty Military personnel , and Veterans Support groups.

I have had the pleasure of being with you on several missions and I must say if they are Welcome Home Missions, Deployment Missions or the Mission of a Fallen Warrior you bring a sense of claim to the whole mission; but that is what a Mother does for her children.

I only hope that your sons and daughters realize what their Mothers are doing to help their fellow comrades. You’re not sitting around doing nothing, you’re on the front lines here in America making sure the Men and Women of the United States Military know that no matter where they are or what the occasion, you treat them all as if they were your Children .

I and the members of the Patriot Guard Riders can not thank you, Mary Laughter, Kathy Clement, and Cheryl Ambum enough for your support on this mission.

Oh! Do not think I forgot Michael, I wanted to give him a Special

“THANK YOU”. It was truly a pleasure to see this young man taking the time to show his respect for all of us. I know he could have been out having fun someplace else, but to give of himself to help with the task of feeding and keeping almost 80 people in cool drinks says a lot for this young man. Of course there is that Mother thing again teaching her child some of the more important things in life.  Thank you, Michael.

I look forward to seeing you again, but of course under better circumstances. And by the way, nothing beats a homemade sandwich from MOM.

Sincerely,

Bob Woods
